After completing the investigation on colleges last month, I was finally ready to take action and visit these prospective universities. I had already arranged for tours around the campus and drives through the cities in order to get the complete feel of what it would be like to actually attend one of these institutions.

My college visits began in western Los Angeles, UCLA. where I was fondly greeted by the tour guide who took my mom and I, along with a few other possible students around the large campus. We strolled around the parks and sidewalks listening to the college senior talk about the history of the university and her experiences at UCLA. She explained the wide variety of extra curriculars, clubs, field trips and abroads students where offered, and by the end of the visit I was fascinated. Before leaving, my mom and I stopped by the admissions office to ask a few questions regarding several subjects like SAT, ACT and GPA scores, but most importantly ask about their thoughts on the IA.

We definitely didn't get a warm welcome from Michigan, arriving in the early morning with a freezing -17°c, however the trip went upward from there. After crashing on the hotel to take a quick nap, my mother and I headed towards the visitor's center in the university. There, we had the chance to have a private meeting with one of the admissions director's, who gladly answered any doubts I had. After that, I was ready to tour around, and given the cool temperature in Ann Arbor, we decided to make the visit via taxi. As we where driving out, I was amazed by the never-ending university. Over 3,000 acres of UMich filled the city of ann arbor, making for a large student body and numerous educational opportunities. The taxi driver toured us all around the north, central and southern campuses, and we had the chance to see dorms, buildings, and even visit some local businesses. After all, we headed towards the hotel having concluded a thorough college visit.

After a long week of traveling, my partial college visits where completed, leaving me with answered questions and many plans for the future. I concluded that overall, before picking a university, I have to be more educated on the topic, which is why I am going to be visiting some more colleges next summer. Secondly, if I want to have a better intake on college life, I should probably think of joining a camp this winter break, something that would also look great in my application!
